William and Kate will meet with assistance workers in Ukraine who are helping with the humanitarian effort

Over £280 million has been raised for the Disasters Emergency Committee appeal.

According to Kensington Palace, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will meet assistance workers who have returned after helping with the humanitarian operation in Ukraine.

On Thursday, William and Kate will pay a visit to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) headquarters in London to hear more about the organization’s ongoing appeal to help individuals affected by the crisis in the eastern European country.

DEC charities and local partners are giving food, water, shelter, and medical help to the four million people who have fled the country and the seven million who are internally displaced in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.

William and Kate will speak with recently returned humanitarian workers as well as those on the ground in Ukraine via video call to hear more about the work that the funds are supporting and the human cost of the crisis.

The discussions will also cover the larger backdrop, including how the events in Ukraine threaten to exacerbate current humanitarian issues around the world, according to Kensington Palace.
