Signal’s Another Big Update For Apple iPhone: Everything iPhone user needs to know

Signal is a messaging app, just like WhatsApp or iMessage or Facebook Messenger; however, in recent times it has gained popularity after Elon Musk tweeted mentioned the app in one of his tweets. Since the tweet, the app has outgrown itself and is in competition in Whatsapp.

Signal has come up with another update for Apple iPhone users just withing a few days after an important update was released. These updates have brought Signal up to version 5.3 and the new Signal update is now only available for iOS users to download via the Apple App Store.

Signal, a privacy focussed app has come at a time when many users were looking for an alternative to the Facebook-owned WhatsApp, which recently announced the new privacy policy which failed to impress many users with the handling and sharing of data with Facebook—WhatsApp has since delayed the implementation of the new policy.

The new Signal version 5.3 update brings new features such as:

  • Improvements to individual chat customizations
  • An updated About section
  • A setting for lowering the data usage for Signal calls which will come in use in case the users are using Signal for making calls, while they are on a 3G or 4G network, or even a not-very-fast Wi-Fi.
  • The pause and resume feature now available for the attachment downloads; meaning you can choose when to download a large attachment.
  • Improved the image compression and quality algorithms
  • On the iPhone, now Signal chats will be a part of the share sheet on iOS for iPhones when the user wants to share something from another app.
  • In the chat list previews, the user can now see the sender’s name in group chats.

However, Android phone users are currently in version 5.2.3 and the last update for the app added new functionality and bug fixes among other improvements.
