Kapil Dev
The Indian team captain and the most integral player of India in their World Cup win. His knock of 175* against Zimbabwe is his career best figures and also the main reason for India’s glory. Dev managed to score 303 runs at an average of 60.6 and also scalped 12 wickets and took 7 catches in 8 matches.
Mohinder Amarnath
Man of the Match in semi final and final of the 1983 World Cup, he was one of the star players in the 1983 World Cup squad for India. Amarnath is known as the best batsmen to fare off against express pace, he also had the privilege of bagging the final wicket of the tournament. He was the vice captain of the team, and held the World Cup aloft in a famous photograph along with Captain Kapil Dev.
Sunil Gavaskar
Classy batsmen at his time and a great fear to the West Indies bowlers. Gavaskar was the first batsmen to reach 10,000 test runs and was the player with 35 test centuries, the highest, the record was broken by Sachin Tendulkar later on. Due to his injury in the World Cup, Gavaskar’s performance suffered a bit and he was given a rest from the playing XI.
Krishnamachari Srikanth
He was an integral member of the Indian squad when they won the 1983 Prudential World Cup. He was the top scorer for India in the finals with 38 runs. Srikanth is known for his aggressive batting style. He has a degree in mechanical engineering.
Dilip Vengsarkar
Everyone used to call him Col. C.K. Naidu and he was rated as the best batsmen in the Coopers and Lybrand rating (a predecessor of the PWC ratings) and he held the number one slot for almost two years. He got injured in the World Cup in a match against West Indies and was therefore ruled out of the tournament.
Kirti Azad
A player full of talent and potential but he couldn’t take his domestic performance to the international level, scoring only 135 test runs and 269 in ODIs. He picked up 3 and 7 wickets in the two formats. he is known for taking the wicket of Ian Botham in the World Cup semi final against England.
Syed Kirmani
The most perfect and proper player in cricket, according to Kapil Dev, the wicket keeper batsmen was known as a very stylish batsmen in his time. He is a recipient of the Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award for Cricket in India.
Yashpal Sharma
In the opening match of India’s World Cup, he topped with 89 runs to defeat. In the semi final against England he again top scored with 61. He was the second leading run scorer for India during the 1983 World Cup with 240 runs. He is known as the crisis man by his friends in the team.

All rounder was the main bowler to crunch the WI bowlers in the first match and made India to a historic win. He was not a part of every playing XI in the tournament. He is known for his sheer manhood and Casanova image.
