Alisson and Jota will miss upcoming Community Shield clash, Jurgen Klopp confirms
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has ruled out his goalkeeper Alisson Becker and forward player Diogo Jota from the coming weekend’s FA Community Shield clash against Manchester City.
The Community Shield clash is played between the Premier League Champions and the FA Cup winners. The match is scheduled to be played at The King Power stadium on Saturday, 30th July. The ground is home to the Leicester club.
According to reports, goalkeeper Becker is suffering with an injury and has not played a match since Liverpool’s 4-0 loss to Manchester United, last season. Becker has been part of the pre-season training but the Brazilian will most likely miss the game against Pep Guardiola and team.
“Ali trained today more than the day before, so he will definitely be available for Fulham, but not for the weekend,” said the Liverpool manager.
On the other hand, Jota has a hamstring injury and was not part of the teams training camp in Austria.
“Diogo is not here with us so how could he play a football game? It will take a while, unfortunately,” added Klopp.
Moreover, a win in the FA Community Shield match, will be a positive sign for the Reds as they kick off their Premier League campaign.
