FC Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Danish player Andreas Christensen on July 4 as a centre back on a free transfer from Chelsea. The club earlier on signed midfielder Frank Kessie and now have confirmed Christensen ahead of the new season in La Liga.
“FC Barcelona and Andreas Christensen have reached an agreement for the player to join the Club after his contract with Chelsea FC came to an end. The player will sign a contract until 30 June 2026 and his buy out clause will be set at 500 million euros” said the club’s statement.
Christensen will join Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia and Ronald Araujo. The ex Chelsea player will officially be a part of Camp Nou on Thursday, July 7.
The Denmark player was a part of Chelsea since 2014 and is an experienced player, in his stint with the Blues he lifted the Champions League, the Europa League and the Club World Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge.
With the new signing in the Barca side, boss Xavi will be having many options to go in the playing XI.
A protracted saga, complicated by ongoing financial issues at Barca, has finally been brought to a close.
