Arsenal hold Liverpool to a goalless draw

As the first half began, the key event was Granit Xhaka’s sending off after he attempted to win the ball and collided into Diogo Jota.

After the Gunners were reduced to ten men, Liverpool failed to look sharp enough or create many chances.
With Arteta’s system, Arsenal was very well drilled in the first half to keep it all square and prevented Liverpool from scoring in the opening 45 minutes.

Milner was replaced by Curtis Jones at 61 minutes and the new player attempted to make an impact on proceedings.
In the 72nd minute, Saka had a chance to score after receiving the cross from Tierney, but Alisson saved it.

Despite having the ball at his disposal on a golden platter, Minamino failed to score an open goal in the 89th minute.

At Anfield, there is no difference between the teams. With few chances created, Liverpool had an underwhelming performance against Arsenal.

As a result, Arsenal will now be looking forward to the second leg at Emirates on 21 January and try to give a fight and advance in the tournament to meet Chelsea in the final.

In the 24th minute after Xhaka was sent off, Liverpool expected to run riot after being left with 10 men. However, they were left disappointed.
