Bangladesh win their first-ever Test against New Zealand

For the 16th time in a match, Bangladesh beat New Zealand with an eight-wicket victory over the World Champions on Wednesday, ending their hosts’ 17-match unbeaten run at home.
Bangladesh beat Black Caps by 40 runs for victory through two wickets on day five at Mount Maunganui, with Ebadot Hossain taking a career-best 6-46.

The triumph was “unbelievable!” exclaimed seamer Taskin Ahmed as a small group of Bangladeshis celebrated on the Bay Oval boundary.
“It was a great achievement for us, our first win out of Asia. We stuck to the process. We gave 110 percent. It feels great.”
The win gave Bangladesh a 1-0 lead in the two-match series with the second match to be played in Christchurch on Sunday.
Four of Bangladesh’s top six batsmen scored fifties on the fourth day of the match to give them a 130-run lead in the first innings.

Ebadot, the match’s player of the match, had taken only 11 wickets in his previous 10 matches before his late spell which removed three batsmen for no runs after New Zealand had wiped out the deficit.
The young team of Bangladesh was expected to be defeated by New Zealand, last year’s inaugural world champions.
