Bhuvneshwar Kumar makes new record against Pakistan
The arch rivals square off against each other at the Dubai International Stadium as part of their fixture of the DP Asia Cup 2022, yes, its India and Pakistan and the match is one hell of a fight.
Pakistan were bowled out for 147 and it was due to all the seam bowlers, but mostly, Bhuvneshwar Kumar who has claimed a new record, Kumar recorded the best bowling figures for an Indian against Pakistan in T20Is with figures for 4/26.
Earlier Hardik Pandya had the best figures, which was 3/8 in the 2016 Asia Cup.
Before bowling the first ball, I thought it was going to swing. There was no swing but there was a bit of bounce. We knew we had to bowl wicket to wicket, so bowling short was the plan. The pitch was a bit skiddy, and lets be honest 147 means we gave a bit too many runs in the end. I think if we can bat well in the first six overs, because the pitch is a bit streaky. There is no swing but there is a bit of bounce, so we need to combat that nicely, ” said Bhuvneshwar after the Pakistan innings.
Bhuvneshwar got the better of skipper Babar Azam, as he departed for just 10, Shadab Khan, Asif Ali and Naseem Shah also fell prey to Bhuvneshwar. The Punjabi boy Arshdeep, who is playing his first major international tournament, also had figures for 2/33.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and had elected to ball first, wicketkeeper Mohammed Rizwan was Pakistan top scorer with a valuable 43.
At the moment, India are 127/5 with Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya on crease.
