Breaking News: Adani Group to Buy an IPL Team by the name of Ahmedabad Renegades
The much-anticipated announcement has finally arrived, revealing the identities of the two new Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises. The bidding procedure was set for October 25th, 2021 in Dubai, UAE, after an initial delay due to more possible bidders arriving. The Lucknow Scorchers and the Ahmedabad Renegades are the two new teams that have been announced.
After months of deliberation over whether the cash-rich league’s structure should be altered, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to add two new teams to the tournament, which will begin in IPL 2022. Avram Glazer, Adani Group, RPSG Group, Jindal Steel, Torrent Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, Hindustan Times Media, Rhiti Sports, Ronnie Screwvala, and Ranveer Singh + Deepika Padukone were among those that submitted bids.
At the Taj Dubai for the IPL 2022 team auction, ten parties showed up, each with an opening tender of Rs.10 lakh. After the bids were submitted and verified, the only thing left to do was reveal the highest bidders and the two new teams, which happened at 3 p.m. IST!
Avram Glazer, co-owner of Manchester United, won the bid for one of the teams that would be co-owned with Bollywood celebrity Ranveer Singh. The Lucknow Scorchers franchise will be theirs, and the home ground has yet to be determined. According to reports, the home ground would be Indore.
