Cesare Casadei lands up at Stamford Bridge

Italy national player, Cesare Casadei has been signed by West London club Chelsea FC on a six year contract after a transfer from his former club Inter Milan.

“Cesare is a player we have tracked for some time and we are delighted that he has now agreed to join Chelsea, where he will initially strengthen our Under-21s squad. He is another exciting emerging talent who we are looking forward to seeing develop and progress further as he breaks into senior football in the coming years,” said Neil Bath, Head of Chelsea youth development.

Chelsea have payed an initial £12.6million fee and that could rise by a further £4.2m depending on add-ons to get on board the Italian.

Moreover, the former Inter Milan player has been widely compared to Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard as a sign of his goal scoring ability as a midfielder.

“I’m not so sure if we do him a big favour if we join in this discussion (about his similarities to Lampard). I met him yesterday here in the building. We will give him time now to learn the language, to learn what Chelsea is all about, to understand the culture, how we live here and train here on a daily basis. Once he is settled in we will give him the opportunity to train with us and show his qualities. Then we will assess him and I have a clearer picture of him. Then, we will see.” said Blues boss Thomas Tuchel, on rushing Casadei into the club’s playing 11.

Furthermore, Carney Chukwuemeka and Omari Hutchinson had joined at Stamford Bridge earlier in the transfer window and now the signing of 19-year-old Casadei is the latest investment from the club looking for longer-term prospects.
