Chelsea faces strikers shortage as Timo Werner, Romelu Lukaku and Chrishtian Pulisic are out of the trip to face Newcastle
Thomas Tuchel has been left with a selection crisis as names are keep adding in the list of injured players. With Romelu Lukaku, Time Werner and Christian Pullisic already out of the match against New Castle, they have now added the name of Kovacic to their injury list.
Chelsea sits at the apex of the league table after putting seven goals past Norwich City last weekend. But on the other hand facing crisis due to players injury.
Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta missed Chelsea’s midweek victory but have returned to full-time training. N’Golo Kante too missed the last couple of matches because of muscle fatigue.The Chelsea gaffer revealed that Kovacic picked up an injury in training and will be out for a few weeks.
Now Lukaku and Werner limped off during the first half of Chelsea’s 4-0 win against Malmo in the Champion’s League. Chelsea’s manager stated the duo were both likely to “be out for some matches”. Romelu twisted his ankle in the box and Timo has a hamstring injury. Tuchel about the duo getting injured stated, “I don’t think it makes any sense to speculate how long it will be. The fact is you never know, things can be shorter or longer than expected. The one thing I can tell you for sure is both are in treatment, both are positive but are out for the next two games for sure.”
Chelsea is lacking attackers but will still be playing with Newcastle United tomorrow and will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table.
