Highlights from Day 5 of the 2nd Ashes Test between Australia and England: It’s a 2-0 score. In the second Test, Steve Smith’s Australia trounced Joe Root’s England by a massive 275 runs. They now have a 2-0 advantage in the five-match series. Hosts earlier today: After collecting four wickets on Day 4, Australia had a tight grip on the second Test. Before declaring with a 467-run lead, Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne each hit half-centuries. On the penultimate ball of the day, Australia took out England’s top four, including captain Joe Root. Root and Ben Stokes fought valiantly to make it to stumps, but Root was dismissed after a knock to the midsection. After the hit, he seemed uncomfortable and nicked one behind to Alex Carey off Mitchell Starc at stumps.

Mitchell Starc struck early on the last day after Ollie Pope was disqualified on 4. On 12, Nathan Lyon trapped Stokes LBW for his second wicket of the day. Following their dismissals, Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes put up a fight, scoring 61 runs in 190 balls until Jhye Richardson dismissed the latter for 44. Lyon then took his second wicket of the day, removing Ollie Robinson for an unbeaten eight. Only two more wickets are required for the Steve Smith-led side to take a 2-0 lead in the five-match series. Buttler’s 207-ball defiance came to an end two overs after Tea when he was out hit-wicket, leaving the hosts needing just one wicket to win. Jhye Richardson took the final wicket nearly four overs later, dismissing James Anderson to complete his first Test five-for.
