Djokovic set to skip group stages; Davis Cup
Serbian Tennis player Novak Djokovic will miss Serbia’s Davis Cup Finals group stage matches, which are beginning from next week, due to personal reasons, the player is a former World No.1. The country’s tennis federation announced on Monday.
Moreover, Djokovic also missed the ongoing US Open after he refrained from COVID-19 vaccination. Earlier this year, the Novak had sealed his 21st Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon.
After missing out on the US Open, the Serbian was supposed to return at the Davis Cup, now, Serbian captain Viktor Troicki stated that Djokovic will not be available for the Davis Cup.
He will most likely return in the Laver Cup, which begins in September at London, in the O2 Arena.
Earlier in the month, the CDC had removed the vaccine compulsion for American citizens. Djokovic had a light of hope to feature at the US Open. However, the latest guidelines relating to non-citizens come as a setback for the Serbian and left him much disappointed.
Earlier as well, he was all over the headlines due to his stance of maintaining to not take a jab, this ruled him out of the Australian Open.
