ECB puts in support for rainbow laces against 2nd Test with Proteas

The England and Wales Cricket Board is in favour of supporting Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign for the fifth time now, moreover, the first time for a men’s Test match.

The initiative will see the game come together to celebrate and encourage LGBTQ+ community participation in the game, it will run across the Royal London One Day Cup quarter finals, The Hundred and for the first time in the England men’s LV= Insurance Test match against South Africa at the Emirates Old Trafford.

Rainbow Laces messaging will be visible at all professional games across the weekend, alongside branded stumps and a presence on the big screen, and every cricket club in the United Kingdom has been equipped with social media graphics to help show their support online for the campaign.

“It’s great to support a campaign like Rainbow Laces. Cricket needs to be for everyone, and as players we need to keep doing our bit to demonstrate that we believe in that – that we want everyone to feel included and welcome in our sport.” said former England captain Joe Root.

The ECB’s support of Rainbow Laces forms part of the boards continued commitment to Raising The Game; a new encircling platform for advancing equity, diversity and inclusion within cricket in not just England but raise awareness all through the globe.
