Euro 2020: England Issued With 2 Stadium Ban by UEFA
For “lack of order and discipline inside and around the stadium, for the invasion of the field of play, for throwing of objects, and for disturbances during the national anthems,” UEFA has issued England a two-game stadium ban (one of which is suspended) and a €100,000 fine in the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy.
Following crowd disruptions at the Euro 2020 final in July, UEFA’s disciplinary committee punished England by ordering them to play one match behind closed doors and fining them €100,000.
A two-year suspension has also been imposed by UEFA for a second match.
Ticketless fans fought with stewards and police as some forced their way into the stadium for England’s first major final since 1966, against Italy.
Before the match, which the Italians finally won on penalties, UEFA investigated both supporter behaviour and weak security measures.
Due to Covid-19 limitations, the final’s capacity was limited to 60,000 from Wembley’s customary 90,000.
