FIFA assures fans concerts at free costs at the World Cup in Qatar
The global football federation, FIFA, has promised to arrange free concerts with international stars for the fans at the official Fan Festival in Qatar during the World Cup later this year.
“Concerts starring top global and local music acts and live works by internationally acclaimed performance artists” during the 29 days of World Cup games at the Al Bidda Park in central Doha.
The tournament kicks off from November 20. The festival site which is next to the Corniche waterfront and near to the West Bay neighborhood will be the official viewing area for fans to watch all the games on the big screens.
Moreover, a policy on alcohol consumption was confirmed Saturday that will allow sponsor Budweiser to serve beer after 6:30 p.m.
As per the federation more than a million visitors are expected at the first World Cup hosted in the Middle East nation. Furthermore, FIFA said official fan festivals are also planned in other cities worldwide during the tournament.
Although, no music gigs have yet been confirmed for the Doha venue.
FIFA said it also has plans to conduct some soccer games at the venue featuring former World Cup stars who are a part of its Legends program. Ever since the 2006 World Cup in Germany, FIFA has been on fan zone viewing areas with local organizers in host nations to make the World Cup a great fest and celebration.
