FIFA suspends AIFF, FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022 can’t be held as planned in India
On grounds of “undue influence” by third parties, FIFA bas suspended the All India Football Federation with immediate effect.
FIFA recently stated in a statement that The Bureau of the FIFA council has unanimously decided to suspend the All India Football Federation (AIFF) with immediate effect due to undue influence from third parties, which constitutes a serious violation of the FIFA Statutes.
The International Football Federation asserted that the suspension will be lift off once an order to set up a committee of administrators to assume the powers of the AIFF Executive Committee has been repealed. Additionally the AIFF administration should regain full control of the AIFF’s daily affairs.
Statements by FIFA also mentioned that due to the suspension, the scheduled FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022, to be held on 11-30 October 2022 in India cannot currently be done so as planned.
FIFA asserted that it is accessing the next steps regarding the tournament and will refer the matter to the Bureau of the Council according to it’s necessity.
The governing body also assured that it is in contact touch with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in India. The governing body is hopeful that the matter will receive a positive outcome in the end.
