Gautam Gambhir speaks out about his brutal IPL 2013 argument with Virat Kohli: ‘That’s the kind of player he was’
Virat Kohli is on track to equal Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international hundreds before retiring, according to Gautam Gambhir.
Kohli now has 70 international hundreds, the second-most by an Indian behind Tendulkar and the third-most overall. He’s been waiting for the 71st since November 2019 and isn’t in the best of shape right now. However, the former Indian captain has continued to make crucial contributions across all forms.
Gambhir clarified to Jatin Sapru on his YouTube show ‘Over and Out’ that personal connections are often ignored in situations where you are leading a side, and that he has no regrets about what he said at the time.
Gambhir also discussed his infamous furious encounter with Kohli during an IPL 2013 league match. Following Kohli’s departure, the two captains of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) briefly confronted one other on the pitch.
‘Competitive’ captains, according to the cricketer-turned-politician, must put their personal connections aside and take acts against their will in order to raise their team.
In recent years, Gautam Gambhir has grown in importance and popularity as a cricket pundit. He stays unafraid to speak his mind, goes on to say things that other characters would be scared to utter, and does wonders with his words when it comes to generating audience participation.
