‘Had everything’: Double hat-trick, Usman Khwaja goes off and absurd last over in mad BBL thriller
Sydney Thunder beat the Melbourne Renegades by one run at the MCG in one of the best games of the Big Bash season.
Cameron Boyce was the star for the Renegades in the first innings with a five-wicket haul, including his first double hat-trick in BBL history.

In the meantime, Usman Khawaja – one of seven Australians returning from Test duty for the final regular-season BBL match – continued his impressive form after the Ashes with a 77-ball knock.
Despite tracking comfortably towards chasing down Sydney’s total of 170, the Renegades collapsed in their final over, including the dismissal of Aaron Finch (82) after a brilliant innings.
Melbourne could win the game by hitting two or more sixes off the last delivery if Will Sutherland hits a six off his first ball. Boyce, however, couldn’t back up his heroics from earlier in the night, as he was caught at backward point to seal an agonizing one-run loss.
The Thunder qualified for the BBL finals in third place with the result.
