Happy Birthday Shardul Thakur: Indian cricketer Shardul Thakur is celebrating his 30th birthday today i.e. on 16 October. Shardul Thakur's team Chennai Super Kings won the IPL 2021 title a day earlier. Shardul played an important role in Chennai's victory.
New Delhi. Shardul Thakur was born on 16 October 1991 in Palghar, Maharashtra. In the last one year, Shardul Thakur has performed tremendously in Test, ODI and T20 cricket. Shardul ensured India’s victory in the Brisbane Test against Australia and the Oval Test against England. At the same time, his team Chennai Super Kings got the title in IPL. In this season, Shardul was the highest wicket-taker for Chennai. He took 21 wickets in 16 matches.
This Mumbai all-rounder made his debut for India in the year 2017 against Sri Lanka. The next year he was included in the T0 team. Shardul was also a part of Chennai Super Kings which won the IPL title in 2018. Shardul made his Test debut in the year 2018 but then it took him 2 years to return to the team.
In an interview, Shardul Thakur had revealed that when he was out of the Test team, it was because of Mahendra Singh Dhoni that he got help. Shardul Thakur had said, “Whenever Dhoni shares his experience, we have something to learn. He is the kind of person who says something every day and if you are smart enough to learn from it then you will keep on learning. Every day, you will learn something.
Due to Shardul’s stellar performance in the IPL, he also got a place in the T20 World Cup team. Earlier he was selected as a reserve player. If Hardik Pandya is not bowling, then Shardul is certain to play in the World Cup as an all-rounder. Shardul has already replaced Pandya in the Test team.
Shardul Thakur is known in the cricket circle of Mumbai as ‘Palghar Express’ due to his bowling ability. Once he was dropped from the Mumbai team due to being overweight. He took the highest 48 wickets in the Ranji Trophy 2014-15 season.
Shardul Thakur wore Sachin Tendulkar’s jersey number 10 in his debut match. Due to this, he was trolled a lot on social media. After this he changed the number of his jersey and made it 54. Although fans now call him ‘Lord’ Shardul.
