IND V/S SL: India bags the trophy by beating Sri Lanka by 238 runs
Thus, India has once again achieved a comprehensive win. The result was expected, but after 13 wickets fell on day one, it appeared the contest would be over by the second day, though there were some good innings by both teams.
Shreyas Iyer’s century on day one made a big difference in the end. The most mesmerizing half-century, however, came from Rishabh Pant on day two. Meanwhile, Karunaratne played serenely on day three.
Although spinners from both teams bowled well, Sri Lanka’s spinners may have bowled too many long hops in the first innings. Its fast bowlers didn’t trouble the batters as much as their Indian counterparts in Bumrah (8 wickets) and Shami (2 wickets).
With the last wicket, Ashwin becomes the first bowler to pick up 100 wickets in the World Test Championship. With 442 Test wickets, he sits eighth on the list of the all-time leading wicket takers in Test cricket. Ravindra Jadeja, on the other hand, did not perform as well with bat or ball after a spectacular performance in Mohali.
It was a much better performance by the visiting team than in the first test. However, the gulf between the sides, particularly in India, was wide.
Virat Kohli also tweeted on Kooapp post about the win and was grateful
