Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu wins silver on the second day of the Commonwealth Games, 2022
The Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu has led the way in the Women’s 49kg Commonwealth Games, 2022. She has done a successful lift of 88kg in her second attempt to create a record for India in the Women’s 49kg category.
Mirabai Chanu is known for winning gold at the previous Commonwealth Games and silver at the Tokyo Olympics, 2021 where she attempted to lift 90kg but failed in her 3rd attempt. In the Commonwealth Games, 2022 India has been successfully running ahead for winning medals.
A 21-year-old weightlifter Sanket Mahadev Sargar owns silver in the Men’s 55kg category on Saturday for lifting 248kg and finished in the position. After that, another weightlifter representing India Gururaja Poojary owned bronze in Men’s 61kg category. India has been showing its spark only on the second day of the Commonwealth Games, 2022 hosted in Birmingham, the U.K.
