India’s squad announced for Zimbabwe tour
The BCCI has announced their 15 member squad for their tour of Zimbabwe, Shikhar Dhawan will be once again leading the team, senior players Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and all format captain Rohit Sharma are rested for the series.
All rounder Washington Sundar and pacer Deepak Chahar have been included in the squad, IPL star Rahul Tripathi has also made it to the 15 member shortlisted players, and this his first ever call up to the ODI squad.
Just after the Zimbabwe tour, the Asia Cup kicks of after five days in the UAE, and that too will most probably not feature the main players, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya to name a few, opener Shikhar Dhawan will step up on the big stage as Indian skipper.
Chahar had an hamstring injury in his last international match in February 2022 and was in rehab at the NCA in Bengaluru, on the other hand, Sundar got injured while bowling in the IPL 2022 and was also not a part of the home series against South Africa.
The three ODIs will be played at Harare, the first one on August 18, followed by on the 20th and 22th, the Asia Cup begins from August 27.
