IPL 2022: Three quick bowlers In the major auction, the Chennai Super Kings should be a target
CSK were quite good with both the willow and the ball in the IPL 2021, but they needed a few things.
CSK enjoyed one of the most memorable nights in the IPL final of 2021, as they defeated KKR by a large margin to win the trophy. Dhoni’s words came true after a shaky 2020 season, as they played considerably better.
The Men in Yellow have firepower in both batting and bowling this season, which they lacked previous year. Don’t forget about skipper Dhoni, who devised some incredible ideas that aided the Men in Yellow in their progress.
Even though they were excellent with both the willow and the ball, CSK lacked a few key elements. It was also the frantic pace.
Even with the likes of Bravo, Hazlewood, and Ngidi, a bowler with a speed above 140 clicks every ball, they couldn’t capitalise much.
A quick bowler with raw pace, on the other hand, is essential in every T20 side. Bowling stalwarts like Nortje and Rabada may be found in teams like DC. CSK should search for bowlers who can bowl at a high rate in the next mega auction.
CSK should target the following three quick bowlers in the 2022 auction:
Lockie Ferguson is number one.
CSK should consider Lockie Ferguson as one of their possibilities. Lockie, a rifle pacer, could pace up to 145 mph on every ball. In T20 cricket, the Kiwi bowler has risen to prominence.
The Auckland spinner has 94 wickets at an average of 23.15 and an excellent economy rate of 7.55 in 84 outings. This season, he has played for KKR and has done a fantastic job picking up wickets.
If KKR does not include Lockie in their retained players list for the forthcoming mega auction, CSK should take advantage of him.
Mitchell Starc, No. 2
Mitchell Starc should be one of CSK’s mega-auction picks. The Aussie quickie has been the bowling spearhead for his country, known for his pace and belligerence. In limited-overs cricket, he has been one of Australia’s most important players.
In 104 T20 cricket games, the Australian speedster has sent the batsmen to the pavilion 150 times at an excellent average of 18.62 and a remarkable economy rate of 7.26. Starc previously represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL in 2014 and 2015.
Starc can be a valuable player for any team, despite his recent struggles. Starc should be a goal for CSK to wear the Yellow jersey since he is a fantastic pace bowler both at the start of the innings and at the end.
