England batter Joe Root has beaten Virat Kohli’s record of scoring most runs in a Test series between India and England. Virat Kohli made 655 runs in the 2016/17 series whereas Root now has smashed 656*.
Former English captain Joe Root has been on a roll with his extra ordinary form in red ball cricket. Moreover, Root was nominated for the Sir Garfield Sobers Award for ICC Male Cricketer of the Decade and the award for Test cricketer of the decade.
In 2021, the Test series in India, which is also being played currently, Joe Root made centuries in each of the first three games in the series against India. Over a period of two years, Root scored around 7 centuries and took his tally of Test tons to 24 till the West Indies series at the Windies soil
Recently, in the series against New Zealand, Root completed his 10,000 runs in Tests.
As far as Virat Kohli’s form is concerned, the King is suffering from this type of critic for almost three years now. he last scored a century in November 2019, and since then his top score was of just 93* against a match with West Indies.
