Jules Kounde leaves Sevilla, joins Chelsea on 55 MN pound potential transfer

Sevilla club has opted out to leave the Frenchman Jules Kounde out of their squad for friendlies against Sporting CP and Angers this weekend as the defender closes in on a move to Chelsea.

Kounde was left out from the 31 man squad which was selected for two pre-season friendlies. The French star is recovering from a mild operation earlier in the summer, although, he has been in full training since last week.

After he was left out of the squad, there have been several speculations that the France international is set for a move to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are hoping to sign the player for less time than decided before, with a 55 m pound offer being prepared. But, Chelsea are facing a tough time with signing the defender as Spanish club Barcelona are also in talks with the France international.

However, Kounde will leave the club and Sevilla have decided not to risk him in their friendlies this week, an injury could disturb any transfer.

Thomas Tuchel wants a strong defensive department, and with already having Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, the addition of Jules Kounde will be a positive sign.

Earlier on, Kounde agreed with personal terms with Chelsea over a move to the club last summer but the Blues opted against triggering his 67 MN release clause.
