Luke Knox passes away at 22

Luke Knox, Florida International football player has passed away at the age of 22, the school announced on Thursday, mourning the young soul’s death.

Knox was the younger brother Dawson Knox had spent the last four years at Ole Miss before transferring to the Florida International School (FIU). Dawson plays for the Buffalo Bills.

Knox, who had studied business, died on Wednesday evening, the school officials said. The cause has not been revealed, though the university said police do not suspect any sort of foul play.

“Words cannot express the heartfelt sorrow we feel because of the passing of our teammate and friend, Luke Knox. I had the honor of coaching Luke at Ole Miss and FIU. While I admired his passion for football, his genuine love for his family and teammates is what I will always remember. He had a special way of making everyone around him feel comfortable and confident.” said FIU coach Mike MacIntyre in a statement.

“We send our thoughts and prayers to Luke’s family, friends and teammates during this difficult time. Coaches and support staff have been reaching out to our football family and will continue to do so to ensure our student-athletes have the support they need.” claimed athletics of FIU.

Knox played two games for Ole Miss in 2019 as a linebacker player, at that time MacIntyre was a defensive coordinator.

Due to the passing away of Knox, the Thursday practice of FIU was cancelled.

“I am very grateful for my personal relationship and time spent with Luke. He was a tremendous teammate and an even better person who lifted up everyone around him.” said Ole Miss Coach Lane Kiffin.
