Manager Steve Bruce has left Newcastle by mutual consent just 13 days

Manager Steve Bruce has left Newcastle by mutual consent just 13 days after the Saudi Arabia-backed £305m takeover of the #EPL side was completed.

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce admitted on Thursday that he expected to be fired shortly after the Premier League club was taken over by a Saudi Arabian-backed group.

Newcastle United had been sold to a group comprising of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), PCP Capital Partners, and RB Sports & Media, according to the Premier League.

Bruce, who will lead Newcastle against Tottenham Hotspur on Oct. 17 for the 1,000th game of his managerial career, said he would understand if the new owners removed him.

“I’d welcome the chance to show the new owners what I can do,” he told The Daily Telegraph. “But you have to be practical, and they may well want a new manager to launch things for them.”
