“meme template to apne use Karo”, Zomato replies back to the Careem Pakistan troll

Pakistan and India are two countries that appear to be constantly at odds with one another. It should come as no surprise that the Pakistan-India match causes a frenzy among citizens of both countries on different levels. It’s that one day, everyone is glued to their TV screens, forgetting everything and not daring to blink lest they miss a perfect catch.

Not wanting to miss out on this fantastic opportunity, many brands centered their social media campaigns on the weekend’s most popular topic. Jumping on the bandwagon was Careem Pakistan a restaurant that tried to take a dig at Zomato.

Zomato is a multinational Indian restaurant aggregator and food delivery service founded in 2008. Zomato offers restaurant information, menus, and user reviews, as well as food delivery options from partner restaurants in select cities.

Careem is a Dubai-based super app with over 100 cities and operations in 12 countries across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. Careem launched Careem Now, a food delivery service, in November 2018 and Careem Pay, a digital payment platform, in April 2022.

The India-Pakistan rivalry transcends far beyond the cricket field, as Zomato mocked Careem Pakistan after the Men in Blue were defeated by Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2022 Super 4 round on Sunday. Careem Pakistan shared a funny meme from the popular Bollywood film ‘Hera Pheri,’ to which Zomato replied, “meme template to apne use Karo”.
