Miguel Cabrera selected in the 2022 MLB All-Star Game

In the past six years, Detroit tigers designated hitter Miguel Cabrera is headed to the All-Star Game. The Major League Baseball announced Friday that Cabrera has been selected for the 2022 All-Star Game by commissioner Rob Manfred as an “All-Star Legends Selection,” a new clause in the collective bargaining agreement between the players and owners.

The All-Star Game will be played on 19 July at 7 pm at the Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Although, the full rosters will be announced on Sunday and another Tiger is set to join the field of players.

“I’m focused about today, on the game today. I don’t care about that kind of stuff. If they invite me, OK, thank you very much. It’s an honor. What a gift. But if they don’t, I don’t care. It’s not big deal.” said Cabrera on asked about All-Star Game chances.

Cabrera has one more year to go and the player sets to retire after the 2023 season. Moreover, Cabrera is one of only three players in the history of baseball to reach 3,000 hits, 500 home runs and 600 doubles. Pujols and Hank Aaron are the other two players to accomplish those marks.

“I am delighted that Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera have agreed to participate in the All-Star Game” said Manfred in a statement.
