MS Dhoni to return as CSK captain in 2023

Chennai Super Kings CEO has confirmed the news that Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be leading the franchise in the 2023 edition of IPL, the information was given by Kasi Vishwanathan on Sunday. The news has brought a smile on every CSK fan.

Although, it is not a huge surprise considering MSD’s influence and guidance in the CSK side for over a decade now, the team is a four-time IPL champion and one of the most favourite and immensely popular teams in the richest league of the world.

“There is no change in our stance. We never said that there will be a change,” Kasi told InsideSport, thus, making it clear that Dhoni will continue as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings for IPL 2023 as well.

However, Dhoni had handed over the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja before the start of IPL 2022 season. But due to the team’s poor run under the new captain, CSK had lost six out of their eight matches.

Afterwards, Jadeja handed over the captaincy shoes back to Dhoni, MSD took over the captaincy duties for the remainder of the season for the greater interest of the team.

Although, his place in the Super Kings has always been a question of concern, MSD has never showed any sign of returning back, though the news has been out officially by the CEO.
