Neeraj Chopra wins gold at Kuortane Games
Indian Track and field athlete, javelin player Neeraj Chopra wins another gold at the Kuortane Games, this is his first gold since the Tokyo Olympics. Neeraj Chopra was ahead of just 5 cm than Keshorn Walcott’s.
The tournament had rainy and slippery conditions, Neeraj Chopra secured his gold with a through of 86.69 m in his opening effort at the Kuortane Games in Kuortane, Finland, on Saturday. This was Chopra’s second medal in the same week, he recently made a national record with a through of 89.30 m, which earned him a silver at the Paavo Nurmi Games at Turku, which is also in Finland.
With only a single shot, the Indian earned another gold to his name, he was fouled in the next attempt and slipped in the next throw, he did not attempt his next three throws.
Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago was placed second to Chopra with a throw of 86.64 m, third came in Grenada’s Anderson Peters with 84.75 m, he also holds the current World Leader with 93.07 m.
