Nisha Dahiya, a national-level wrestler, and her brother were fatally murdered at Sushil Kumar Academy in Sonepat’s Halalpur, Haryana.

The bodies of Nisha Dahiya and her brother Suraj have been sent to the Civil Hospital in Sonepat for a postmortem. The incident is still being investigated, and the reason for the shooting remains unknown.

Nisha Dahiya’s professional life
Nisha Dahiya won gold at the cadet National Championships in Srinagar in 2014, and she repeated the feat the next year. In 2014, she won her first international medal, a bronze in the 49kg category at the Asian Championships. The following year, she took silver in the 60kg category. In 2015, she was also a bronze medalist in the National Championships.
She tested positive for meldonium after earning bronze, a medication that was banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency in 2016. The wrestler was then subjected to a four-year suspension. Meldonium is the same medicine that landed tennis legend Maria Sharapova in hot water.
She was set to acquire a job with the Railways after winning cadet medals and a bronze medal at the National Championships in 2015, but the opportunity was lost due to the doping ban. Nisha Dahiya, on the other hand, made a comeback in 2019, winning the U-23 National Championships in October and a gold medal in the 65kg weight class in Jalandhar.
