Olympic bronze winner Saina Nehwal spotted offering worship at Kedarnath-Badrinath
On Sunday, Olympic bronze winner Saina Nehwal paid a visit to the Uttarakhand shrines of Kedarnath and Badrinath.
Saina, who was joined by her dad Harvir Singh, began her journey to Badrinath by offering worship in Kedarnath on Sunday morning.
Lord Shiva is honoured at the Kedarnath shrine, which stands at 3,584 metres, while Lord Vishnu is honored at the Badrinath temple, which is at 3,133 meters.

Saina Nehwal is a Badminton player from India who was born on March 17, 1990. She was born in Telangana’s Hyderabad district. She was also the first woman to be rated No. 1 in the world of badminton in April 2015. Harvir Singh and Usha Rani Nehwal are the parents of Saina Nehwal. Her mom is a former state-level badminton player, and her father holds a Ph.D. in agricultural science. Her father and mother were both state winners in badminton.
Saina grew up in Haryana before moving to Hyderabad with her family due to her father’s job. Her passion in badminton grew as she visited the Haryana club where her mother used to play. PSS Nani Prasad Rao, a coach at the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, saw Saina’s badminton talent when she was eight years old and convinced her father, Harvir, to let her continue the sport.
Saina began her coaching at the Sports Academy of Andhra Pradesh before moving on to Hyderabad’s Pullela Gopichand Academy. She is a brown belt in Karate in addition to badminton. She is engaged to Parupalli Kashyap, a fellow shuttler.
