Ongoing war costs the Ukrainian Premier League to be called off
After the December break, the Ukrainian Premier League has not been resumed following the invasion by Russia, Shakhtar Donetsk were the table toppers with 47 points in hand, with the Dynamo Kyiv only two points away.
The two teams have held 29 Ukrainian titles together and have also played friendly matches to raise funds for people who have been affected in the Russian invasion. A working group, however, is made to plan and discuss the start of the next season.
“The Standings as of 24 February 2022 will be the final standings of the season and no winners will be awarded”. The Ukraine National Football team is still in contention to qualify for the World Cup later this year in Qatar. The Ukrainians will take on the Scottish men on June 1 in a qualifying playoff game. The winner of that match will play Wales for a place in the World Cup.
