PM Modi certainly happy for Nikhat Zareen on winning Gold; CWG 2022

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has wrote on his social media handle and has congratulated Nikhat Zareen for winning gold medal in Women’s Light Flyweight Boxing event at the CWG 2022.

“Nikhat Zareen is India’s pride. She is a world class athlete who is admired for her skills,” he said. He further said that zareen has shown great consistency by excelling in various tournaments. “Best wishes for her future endeavours,” said PM Modi said in his tweet.

Zareen beat Northern Ireland’s Carly McNaul in the light-flyweight final by unanimous decision to win her maiden CWG gold medal, the match was in 50kg women’s category.

The boxer comfortably won the first and second round and was looking way ahead of her counterpart, its another gold in the bag for team India and with this the total medal tally stands at 49; 17 gold, 13 silver and 19 bronze.

Moreover, Amit Panghal and Nitu Ganghas also brought pride and won their respective finals.
