PM Modi greets World Champion Nikhat Zareen, Bronze Parveen Hooda and Manisha Moun

On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi met with Nikhat Zareen, India’s latest world boxing champion, and her team members Manisha Moun and Parveen Hooda, who just earned bronze medals in the Istanbul event.

“An honor to meet our Hon’ble PM @narendramodi sir. Thank you sir,” After the meeting, Nikhat posted a photo of himself with Modi on Twitter.

Manisha tweeted, “An absolute honor meeting our Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji. Thank you for your wishes and support.”

Manisha and rookie Parveen scored podium finishes in the 57kg and 63kg divisions, respectively, while Nikhat won the coveted gold in the flyweight (52kg) event.

Nikhat, who comes from Telangana’s Nizamabad area, has now joined an elite group of Indian boxers that includes MC The five ladies who have won the championship are Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, and Lekha KC.

Nikhat was recently honored by the Telangana state government with a Rs 2 crore incentive at the request of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

The Prime Minister’s enthusiasm for sporting accomplishments on the international stage is well known, and his encouragement and support of athletes has inspired a number of athletes to compete for the country’s honour.

He was among the first to praise the winners following the great boxing campaign in Turkey, where the Indian delegation won many medals and brought pride to the country.

The PM’s efforts to raise the position of Indian sports by focusing on the development of world-class facilities and high-quality training are expected to pay off in the future, as evidenced by India’s recent success on the international athletic scene.
