Premier League 21/22: Guimaraes scores Newcastle’s third goal against Norwich

Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle United, believes that team unity is “important” for a football club and is proud of how he has assisted with it since taking over. During Newcastle’s match against Norwich City, Tim Krul passes the ball to Bruno Guimaraes, who raises a cheeky chip over the goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

Bruno Guimaraes has already scored three goals in his first 11 Newcastle outings, more than he did in 71 games for his previous club Lyon. When the Magpies signed him from the French club in January, they knew they were acquiring a player, but not one who would score the goals that would ensure their Premier League survival.

The midfielder scored a match-winning double against Leicester on Sunday, poking through Kasper Schmeichel’s knees after a corner in the first half and heading into an easy goal from Joe Willock’s diverted cross deep into stoppage time. Guimaraes was already a fan favorite at St James’ Park when he arrived for £40 million, but now that he has helped Newcastle move 12 points clear of the relegation zone with only six games remaining in the season, he is a full-fledged icon.

Guimares signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Premier League team Newcastle United on 30 January 2022 for a rumored sum of up to £40 million, the largest fee paid since the club’s new owners took over. On February 8, he made his debut as a late substitution in a 3–1 triumph over Everton.

On his full debut, he scored his first goal for Newcastle with a spectacular back-heel volley in a 2–1 victory over Southampton on March 10. On April 17, he scored his first brace for Newcastle in a 2–1 win over Leicester City, with his second coming in the 95th minute to seal the game.
