PSG’s Champions League match against Leipzig will be without Neymar
Neymar, the Brazilian striker, will miss Paris St Germain’s Champions League group game against RB Leipzig after suffering an injury while on international duty, according to manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The 29-year-old was one of many players who missed PSG’s 2-1 Ligue 1 win over Angers on Friday owing to World Cup qualifying commitments.
“The welfare of the player is always the priority,” Pochettino said at a press conference. “Neymar is suffering from a little ailment that we hope will only last a few days and that he will be back with the squad as soon as possible.”
“Neymar Jr has been experiencing groyne pain since returning from international duty and will need more treatment in the coming days before returning to full training,” PSG said in a statement.
Injury has also ruled out midfielder Leandro Paredes and defender Sergio Ramos from Tuesday’s encounter, according to the statement.
PSG now leads Group A with four points from two games, while Leipzig is in last place with no points.
