Rafael Nadal’s fight with day to day injuries

After the win against David Goffin which was decided by third set tie breaker, the Spanish star broke into a press conference and prompted a journalist to ask his current situation.

“No don’t worry, when I play, sometimes my foot pains me. If you see me every single day, you wouldn’t be worried. I always have pain in my foot, especially after playing a three hour match or a long training. I end up walking a little bit badly.”

“In the short term, as I said, it’s fine, but I’m also conscious for tomorrow. It’s a little bit more complicated because tomorrow I can wake up with more problems and we have to accept it and face it.”

Nadal has faced numerous injuries throughout his 21 year old career and has just returned from a rib injury in March, which was looking as an exit sign in the upcoming French Open. Due to his frequent injury record, he suffered a back injury at the start of the season and afterwards was left out with a foot injury in the second half of 2021.

However, all this sheer and hard core training has won him 21 grand slams, with the latest one coming from the Australian Open in early 2022.
