Ravi Shastri to Lead as Commissioner of Legends League
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has been named Commissioner of the Legends League Cricket, a professional league for retired cricketers, which was announced on Monday. Shastri’s tenure as head coach of the Indian cricket team has come to an end, and he is embarking on a new chapter with Legends League Cricket (LLC). Former cricketers and stars of the game will play competitive cricket in a worldwide league that is aiming to become a professional league where legends may relive old rivalries on the field. Shastri contributes a great deal to the league, having had a good career as an all-rounder cricketer and subsequently as a successful coach of Team India.
The first season will take place in the Gulf in January 2022.
“It’s fantastic to be able to stay connected to cricket in the midst of the excitement, especially with the game’s legends, who have all been champions in their own right. With some serious cricket going on, it’ll be a lot of fun. These stalwarts have nothing new to prove, but they do have a reputation to uphold, and it will be fascinating to see how they live up to it. I’m ecstatic to be a member of the Legends League Cricket team. This is a one-of-a-kind venture, and we believe it has a bright future ahead of it “In an official statement, RaviShastri stated.
The first season of LLC will take place in the Gulf in January 2022. Former cricketers from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, England, and other cricketing nations will compete in the league, which will be divided into three teams representing India, Asia, and the rest of the world.
Andrew Leipus, a former member of Team India and the National Cricket Academy, has already joined the league as the Director of Sports Science, in charge of overseeing the fitness of all players. With Ravi Shastri’s appointment as Commissioner of the Legends League Cricket, the league will become even more intriguing and promising.
