Russian gymnast Ivan Kuliak wears a ‘Z’ emblem on his leotard
On the podium, a Russian gymnast wears a ‘Z’ emblem on his leotard and finishes behind a Ukrainian competitor.
Ivan Kuliak, a Russian gymnast, is facing disciplinary action after appearing on the awards platform with an insignia associated with the invasion of Ukraine.
Kuliak, who won a bronze medal at the Gymnastics World Cup event in Doha on Saturday, was wearing a shirt with the symbol “Z” clearly displayed as he stood next to gold medalist Kovtun Illia of Ukraine.
The letter Z does not exist in the Russian Cyrillic script, yet this has been associated with Russia’s invasion.
