Santosh Trophy: Punjab thrash Rajasthan to earn crucial points
Having a shaky start to the Santosh Trophy, with being on the losing side against their opening match with Bengal, it was essential for the Punjab’s to get their A game on and open their account. They brutally thrashed Rajasthan with a 4 – 0 win to keep their hopes alive in the Santosh Trophy National Football Championship on Wednesday. Rajasthan in huge trouble.
Amarpreet Singh opened the scoreboard of the Punjab by beating some of the defenders of Rajasthan, Paramjit Singh joined the party in the 63′ with a goal from the penalty area spot. Slathia didn’t hesitate at all to add on two goals. Punjab were the favourites to win the match, however Rajasthan had a chance but Punjab goalkeeper was just too good for the opposition.
The composure and dedication shown by the Punjab team to win the game in a close contest is something to watch in the coming matches of the tournament. The match was played at the Kottappadi Football Stadium in Malappuram, Kerala.
