Shami gets the better of the English captain; Buttler departs early
With wickets in quick intervals in England’s innings, the Indian bowlers got the better of the England batters again at Lord’s. Skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl first has gone in favour of the Men in Blue. The bowling department were brilliant and the pick of them was Yuzvendra Chahal.
The spinner grabbed 4/47 of his 10 overs and has now has the best figures for an Indian bowler at Lord’s. Jos Buttler and Co were half back at the pavilion within the first 22 overs. Unlike the first ODI, openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow gave a good start but could not keep the flow going.
Hardik Pandya got the dismissal of Jason Roy and Bairstow was bowled out, courtesy Chahal. Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali also fell victims to the spinner.
However, it was Mohammed Shami who bazzled the danger man Jos Buttler. The pacer bowling in the 19th over, went straight at it and disturbed the middle stump.
Former India captain Virat Kohli has also made a return which is a joy of excitement for the Indian fans, Kohli missed the previous game at the Kennington Oval on Tuesday due to a groin injury.
England made 246/10 in 49 overs and the Indian batters have to chase down 247 against the English bowlers. At the moment, two overs have passed and India are yet to open their account.
