Shocking Shreyas Iyer named Captain of Kolkata Knight Riders

Shreyas Iyer has been named captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming IPL 2022 season. This was announced on Twitter by KKR.

After Sourav Ganguly, Brendon McCullum, Gautam Gambhir, Dinesh Karthik, and Eoin Morgan, Iyer is the sixth KKR captain.

Shreyas Iyer was recently purchased for INR 12.25 crores by the Kolkata franchise in the IPL Mega Auction. Iyer used to play for the Delhi Capitals. In the 2020 season, he led DC to the IPL Final.
