Steven Gerrard speaks on Josh Feeney
The tour of Australia has been proved out to be a huge success for many reasons for the Aston Villa. Players like Kaine Kesler Hayden, Tim Iroegbunam and Cameron Archer have been a key emergence in the team, the trio will most likely be involved in the upcoming Premier League.
As far as Josh Feeney is concerned, the Villa club battled with huge clubs like Manchester United to land him at Villa Park. Head Coach Gerrard has taken on a mentoring role and, throughout the tour, has been spending a lot of time with the teenage defender. Gerrard now believes it’s just a matter of time before he steps out at Villa park for his first game.
“He’s a nice kid but when he goes onto the football pitch he changes and he trains and performs like a man. I’m delighted with him. He has come into an adult environment, he’s still a minor. He’s been professional and his training level has been top. He’s got a huge future. We’re going to develop him and shape him and polish him up.”
“He’s a very humble boy. His family have done an incredible job bringing him up in the manner they have. He’s been a joy to be around for the couple of weeks and he’ll have many more opportunities to be around this group. It’ll be a matter of time before he makes his debut for Aston Villa. That’s my opinion, but what I would say, is that Josh has got it all to do now. This is the start for him and I hope that this trip gives him a taste of what it’s like, the level, and I hope it makes him hungry to push on.” said the former England captain.
