India is witnessing the TATA IPL Mega Auction 2022 in Bengaluru on Saturday, February 12. The 37-year old South African Batsman, Faf Du Plessis has been sold for 7 Crore to RCB. He was registered at the highest bracket of base price Rs 2 crores by virtue of being a capped player.
This right-handed batsman has been bought by Royal challengers Bangalore at 7 Crore. The former South African captain, Faf Du Plessis was already much expected to be one of the most expensive players and to fetch price at the auction. He had played for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League 2021. However, Team A has retained the player in this edition also. The South African batsman had generated keen interest among other franchises including Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals.
This marquee player has played for this franchise in 2021. He picked up 633 runs in 16 matches. He is among the most successful players in IPL history. He made his debut in IPL in 2013. He has a strike rate of 131.08 in his entire IPL history. He had also been a part of Rising Pune Supergiants in the past.
