TATA IPL Mega Auction 2022:Suresh Raina left unsold!

TATA IPL Mega Auction 2022: The BCCI announced a list of 90 players who will be up for the auction on February 1. The IPL 2022 mega auction will be held in Bengaluru on February 12th and 13th. Of 590 players, who registered players for the auction, 228 are capped, 355 are uncapped and 7 Belong to Associated Nationa. Also among the 590 players, 370 are Indian and the remaining 220 are overseas players.

Today Suresh Raina left unsold. Earlier he played with Chennai Super Kings and was the backbone of their successes. His dashing left-hand style of play at No3 gave CSK the luxury. He is currently the highest run-getter in history with 4985 runs even before starting IPL 12. Raina also bowls very useful right-arm off-spin and is referred fondly as ‘Mr IPL’. Suresh Raina’s record in the previous season and his price tag of Rs 2 crore. Raina, who announced his international retirement on the same day as his long-time leader MS Dhoni, isn’t quite the force that he once used to be for Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Lions. After opting out of IPL 2020 shortly after arriving in the UAE, allegedly due to differences with the team management, Raina returned to the CSK lineup in 2021 but was a shadow of the run-machine that he once was, collecting just 160 runs at an average of 17.77. His part-time off-spin, which used to come in real handy for Chennai in the past, wasn’t utilised either, and Raina was eventually phased out of the XI towards the business end of the season, in which CSK emerged triumphant to win their fourth title.

There is little doubt that Raina will go down as one of the greatest cricketers in the history of the IPL. Sadly, legacy alone not be enough for ‘Chinna Thala’ to get the team owners interested in the mega auction this time around.
