Test results for COVID-19 show Australian cricketer Glenn Maxwell positive
Glenn Maxwell, an Australian all-rounder, is the latest player from the Big Bash League to test positive for COVID-19.
Captain of the Melbourne Stars in the BBL, Maxwell became the 13th player from that franchise to test positive for the virus.
In an antigen test he took after his team’s Melbourne derby match against the Renegades on Monday, Maxwell was confirmed to have tested positive on Wednesday morning, according to cricket.com.au.
Additionally, he had a PCR test performed and is awaiting its results.
Meanwhile, the Renegades became the fifth team to report a positive case of COVID-19 in the BBL.
The Brisbane Heat withdrew from their match against Sydney Sixers on Tuesday after three other BBL clubs reported positive cases of COVID-19.
Although the number of COVID-19 cases in the BBL has surged, the organizers are trying desperately to keep the tournament going.
ODI and Twenty20 cricketer Glenn James Maxwell represents Australia internationally. Glenn James Maxwell has also represented Australia in Test cricket. In Australian domestic cricket, he plays for the Melbourne Stars and Victoria.
