“Thank you for inspiring billions across the globe,” BCCI took to twitter to remember the Debut of Sachin Tendukar and his contributions over the years
The God of Cricket in India, Sachin Tendulkar made his debut on this day in 1989 in the international cricket. It was a test match against Pakistan held in Karachi. And then, 24 years later, he walked out to bat for the final time in international cricket for India against West Indies in Mumbai.
So to present its affection towards the legend cricketer, BCCI took to Twitter and shared a photo collage of Sachin Tendulkar’s first game and his last one captioned, “#OnThisDay 1989 – @sachin_rt made his debut in international cricket 2013 – The legend walked out to bat for #TeamIndia one final time Thank you for inspiring billions across the globe.”
His debut match was also a debut match for Pakistan’s pacer Waqar Younis which succeeded in dismissing him at a score of 15 and the match ended in a draw. And in his last match, he scored 74 runs before getting out by Narsingh Deonarine in 2013.
Over the years, with his tremendous struggle and dedication, he achieved the title of ‘Greatest Batsman of all time’ and also a nickname the ‘Master Blaster’.
Sachin Tendulkar is the only cricketer in the history of cricket to score 100 international hundreds. He has accomplished a total of 34,357 runs across all formats and is far ahead of former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara which holds the second rank with a score of 6,000 runs. 2010, Tendulkar also the tag of first male cricketer to score a double-century in an One-Day International in 2010. His fans all over India were heartbroken during his last match and it was a memorable match for all of India.
Moreover he became the sixth Indian to become a part of ICC Hall of Fame. Along with this, after his retirement, he also served as a Mentor to one of leading Indian Premier League teams, Mumbai Indians.
